Crosscuttings

The terminology ‘crosscutting’ is being widely used in the underdeveloped, least developed and the developing countries in recent years that affect and cut across most or all aspects of development. Empowering the deprived people, communities and sectors to integrate and mainstreamed throughout all stages of development process is the prime objective of the crosscutting. In Nepalese context, after the movement of ethnic groups, and the sectoral groups, the terminology has been widely used almost for last forty years.
To this end, the MaDRA developed ‘Preparation of Guidelines for Planning Entities in Sub-National Government’ in order to remove the confusion and minimize the duplication of the plan and programs in process of preparing annual, mid-terms and long-term plan by each tier of the government in federal set up. Similarly, it developed another guideline for the foreign aid mobilization in federal set up of Nepal. The succeeding guideline has picturized the role and responsibilities of each stakeholder involved in process of foreign aid mobilization in federal set up of Nepal, the roles and responsibilities of the respective stakeholder and the country system of the Government of Nepal regarding the fund mobilization and management. Furthermore, the MaDRA conducted a study on ‘Mass Media: Present Status, Inclusive, Employment Generation and Contribution in Economy’ for the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to find out the status of paper, radio, television and online medias; inclusiveness in the medias, employment generation and the role of the medias in the economy of Nepal
